It's so frustrating when stuff like that happens. It did the book a bit of a disservice. The series is a slow burn so the ending did feel a bit hurried (particularly in retrospect). I'm also disappointed because it means there will be no more of what has been an amazing series.

However, it does leave me curious about what she'll do next.
