Little Things

Incandescently angry right now. I am reminded of why I shouldn't check my email before bed. It is going to take me some time before I can calm down enough to sleep.

So I'm going to take a page from [personal profile] jjhunter's book and am asking you to share something little (or big) that makes you happy. It could be a cute picture, a song you like, a poem you've read, some moment in your day, something interesting you have been thinking about.

And I am going to share three good things:

1. In an effort to cheer me up, my sweetheart bought me Within Temptation's new album. I love listening to new music and there's nothing quite like some gothic rock to brighten the day.

2. The album includes a cover of "Radioactive" which, while lovely enough doesn't quite live up to what I consider the definitive version... which I went and relistened to once or thrice.

3. Lemon balm or melissa is meant to be one of those calming herbs like lavender. I don't know whether that is true or whether it is the simple act of having a cup of tea that helps. Whatever the case, it is a wonderful thing that it grows like crazy and I have a giant jar full of homegrown lemon balm in the cupboard. I'm going to make a cup now, then go to bed.

the little thing that makes me happy right now is watching my friendships here develop, particularly with someone who lives half a world away. ;-) Hating that life is being so challenging for you! and wishing I could make it better.

Other than that, the piece "Show Me Your Fire Truck" from the movie score for Backdraft always makes me feel lots better. I'm sure there has to be a YouTube out there for it.

This internet thing truly is remarkable! I think I actually may have two Australian friends at this point, though no idea where anyone lives and it's a HUGE country (yes, this American does know that, at least).

Glad you found Show Me Your Fire Truck. I'll have to remember that's a video I'll have to find when I'm at someone's house with high speed. don't have headphones that like to work with Sebastian, so it's not a good idea in public!

I do hope your life is continuing to resolve itself and you able to move ahead.

I suspect most international media would throw darts at a map of Australia and map the places they've heard of based on where they land! which is to say nowhere near -- likely -- where they should be. They may be startled to learn there is rather a good deal more to Australia than Sydney, Melbourne, and "The Outback" (as popularized by steak chain restaurants and Paul Hogan).

Hooray for life at full speed! I wish you continued success. :-)
