I wouldn't call it low-concentration idiocy, but it might be worth checking out some of Kim Westwood's work. I've read The Courier's New Bicycle and Daughters of Moab. They might be up your alley, though they tend to be dark and may need trigger warnings as well (I vaguely recall drug use in the former). I'm going to have to sit with the low-concentration idiocy a bit longer, especially if you're looking for something without too many plot holes.
