Australian Tarot Challenge: October and Beltane 2020

I've been a bit quiet lately, but things have been very busy behind the scenes. One of the things keeping me busy has been a new collaboration with [personal profile] moonvoice. They are a big fan of tarot challenges, but found many of them were quite focused on the experience of pagans in Europe and the US. I'm not a big tarot challenge person (yet, anyway), but the same thing frequently frustrates me in the field of publishing (and just being a person on the internet). So, I offered my skills in graphic design (basic as they are), and this is the result.

These look very "professional social media person". Juggling kangaroos, though? I knew they bounced and boxed, but how/why/do they juggle?

I can answer this one! Kangaroos often have multiple embryos/young on the go. It's not uncommon in good times for them to have an embryo developing, young in the pouch, and young that are hanging around but no longer need the pouch.

When times are tough, they can literally put the development of embryos on pause. It's called embryonic diapause and it's pretty unique to some of our marsupials! It's basically like 'oh it's a shit time to have a baby, time for you to go on pause for a little while.' When times are good, they basically flag 'go' on a whole bunch, and when it's bad, they just...freeze the development.

It's a good metaphor to remind multi-taskers to check in with their projects and ask if any of them need to be on hold right now.

The question therefore hooks into the reminder to check in with the concept of if you've got too much on the go and, if you checked into the land, would it tell you to maybe put one of those projects on pause?

Jings. I am both 100% more informed and utterly horrified by the baby storage capacity of kangaroos, thank you.
