Disaster

It was one of those disasters
where I missed the warning signs.
The debris began arriving at my breakfast table
spewing out of my smartphone
to be eaten up with the muesli.

No natural disaster, this—
only volcanoes of anger
as the fault lines

running through my precious work
rumbled
cracked open
gaped wider

until all that remained
was rubble.

good thoughts for what sounds like a bad morning.

The disaster imagery of the poem is very powerful.

Gracious. I love the language. My sympathies for whatever inspired your writing.

Effective use of imagery, though I'm sorry that events in your life have prompted it.
