Hour 8
I can almost echo last readathon's intro word for word: It's not quite 7am (the start of Hour 9). I'm scarfing down my breakfast and preparing for Dewey's readathon, having slept through the first hours. Please be warned that there are likely to be a large number of posts today, so apologies ahead of time for the spam.

My pile of books to read is below, looking much as it did last time.

Photobucket

I'm already a fair way into Sophie's World (you may be able to see the bookmark sticking out) but I really just want to finish my chapter on that one before moving onto the others. I don't expect to get through the whole pile. It's mostly just there for variety.

Hour 10 begins
I've decided to take a leaf from [personal profile] sweet_sparrow and make all my readathon notes in a single entry so as to avoid spamming people. It has been off to a good start so far. My family is still in bed and it is a gorgeous day outside. If the weather is good enough later, I may spend some time in the hammock.

I finished off the current chapter of Sophie's World and have moved on to Burley #2 in which I had a story published just recently. I'm enjoying it a lot more than I expected to.

Hour 11 begins (9 AM)
The family are up and about now, requiring some time for morning cuddles and hellos. I always love those moments.

Still making my way through Burley #2. There have been some rather poignantly bittersweet stories which I have enjoyed, but leave me feeling a little melancholy. I should finish the volume sometime within the next hour. I'm still debating whether to read another chapter of Sophie's World before moving on to one of the issues of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine I've got saved up.

Hour 12 begins (10 AM)
Finished off Burley #2, as expected. There were a couple of poems that I found rather pretentious, but all in all I rather enjoyed the volume. I may think about getting more in the future. I also finished off another chapter of Sophie's World. The change of pace was refreshing, so I may continue to read bits of it between other books, depending on how things go. I've just started in on ASIM #46 which has a gloriously gruesome picture of a zombie kangaroo on the front cover. I suspect this volume may move more towards horror than I'd like.

I'm feeling a bit peckish, so its time for some toast and tea.

Hour 13 begins (11 AM)
I hit what feels like a bit of a setback. The last story I read ("Linger" by Christopher Green) hit a bit too close to a recent grief and rather upset me. I'm not sure whether I want to continue pushing on with ASIM #46 or whether I want to find something a bit lighter to read. The trouble is I'm not sure whether I have anything that fits the bill. Diana Wynne Jones, perhaps? Not sure.

Hour 14 begins (Midday)

I ended up reading another chapter of Sophie's World before returning to ASIM #46. I can't say that I have been enjoying the latter much--too much horror and darkness. I'm still torn between setting it aside and ploughing right through. Whatever the case, it's time to break for lunch.

Hour 15 begins (1 PM)

I ended up pressing on with ASIM #46 which redeemed itself with a pun-filled zombie romance by Simon Petrie. I'd read it before, being acquainted with Simon, but it brought me some much-needed levity. So I shall continue on and see how I go. I'm feeling a bit tired, so I've just downed my first cup of black tea for the day. I'm thinking there might be some chai in the future.

Hour 16 begins (2 PM)

Not much progress this last hour. A friend arrived to play computer games with my partner and the three of us spent some time catching up. It was nice to have a bit of a break and I feel a little less tired now.

Hour 17 begins (3 PM)

More socialising this hour when another friend came to join the first one. We all had lunch out on the back deck in the sunshine. Even though it means less reading time, I'm okay with that and am feeling pretty relaxed. I had hoped to get through at least three books this readathon, since that is how many books I've managed to add just in the last week. However, if I don't get there I'll be happy to shrink Mt TBR by even just one or two books. Every bit is progress and the real point is to enjoy it.

Hour 18 begins (4 PM)

I managed to get in some solid reading this time around. I'm almost done with ASIM #46, just a few pages left to read. I found it much easier to read after my extended break, so I'm doubly glad I had a rest. I'm thinking that I'll probably read another chapter of Sophie's World before moving onto ASIM #47

Hour 19 begins (5 PM)

Polished off ASIM #46 and another chapter of Sophie's World, before moving onto ASIM #47 as planned. This issue is off to an excellent start with a highly amusing (and well-timed) story about zombies being resurected to vote. I hope the rest of the issue turns out as entertaining!

Hour 20 begins (6 PM)

I'm liking ASIM #47 so much better than #46. I'm currently in the middle of a fantastic story called "The Ship's Doctor" by debut author Charlotte Nash. An excellent exploration of the line between man and machine.

Dinner should just about be ready. I'm looking forward to some super tasty cannelloni. I might have some ginger tea afterwards. My throat is quite sore so I may be coming down with something.

Hour 22 begins (8 PM)
I ended up taking another extended break for another guest and dinner. I managed to get back to it all around 7:30ish. Still making my way through ASIM #47. I hope to be able to finish it up by the end of the night.

Hour 23 begins (9 PM)
Just a few pages left of ASIM #47. I'm starting to feel pretty tired. I'm tossing up between calling an early end or spending the rest of the time reading Sophie's World. I suspect I'll end up doing a little of both.
