Yet another Tidbinbilla trip

Back at the beginning of July (has it been that long already?), my sister and I took a trip out to Tidbinbilla. She'd just acquired a new camera, her old one having met an untimely end in the hands of a toddler. Because she had the new camera, she was happy to hand her back-up back to me, upgrading me from a Nikon D700 to a D7000.

She was child-free for the day, thanks to our mum, so we saw a little more wildlife than usual.

We saw lots of Eastern Yellow Robins about.



The one below seems to be looking for directions.

Swans are the epitome of grace.



For a hot minute, I thought this was a snake, but it turned out to be a nesting swan.



Which is ridiculous because it was way too cold for reptiles. The ponds still had patches of ice as we were walking around. The only reptile we saw was this fellow. I thought it was dead because it was still for so long, but eventually it twitched out of its torpor and swam off slowly, shedding patches of moss.



There were plenty of mammals around, including the obligatory koalas.







There were also a lot of potaroos around the koala enclosure.









At one point my sister lay down on the ground to get a low-angle shot. A particularly brave potaroo gave her the once-over, before hopping off.



In addition to the potaroos, we also saw a bandicoot. At first glance, it looked much the same to me, but I was informed the tail was shorter. It also scampered, rather than hopped.
