Tidbinbilla redux - Part Three: Birds

I had some great success with birds on my last trip to Tidbinbilla... though the emus were singularly uncooperative.

I had much more luck with the White-eared Honeyeaters.

The new (to me) camera meant I was able to get some decent pictures of the brolga this time around... though the challenge then became to catch it on the move, as it kept parading up and down the fence.





A male Golden Whistler, not to be confused with the White-Eared Honeyeater (it seems black and yellow is in).

George the Pelican seemed particularly cranky on this visit. He seemed to be actively avoiding us, but I still managed to get this distant shot of him threatening a black swan.



Fortunately, I managed to have slightly more luck with the male Splendid Fairy Wrens this visit.









Right as we were getting in the car, this Eastern Yellow Robin held still so I could get one last photo.

I am impressed by the brolga. That is some stunning plumage.

Love the upside-down honeyeater, and what a lucky parting shot of the robin! :)

The brolgas have quite a mating dance to go with the plumage.

I was super happy with how the photos turned out.

BROLGA! BROLGA!!! I am awash with love. What lovely photos too. Oh I'm so glad you got them.

The fairy wren/s (?) look bold and cheeky, I love them so much.

Also the black swan and the pelican having it out made me laugh. The black swan's neck is so floofed with rage/indignance!

The Pelican mouthing off at the Swan like that is potentially a very brave move.

It is most definitely a very dumb one.

Yep, swans can be pretty scary.

I always think of you whenever I see the brolgas. I'm glad you like the photo.

There were at least two blue wrens (as you can see in the third of their photos), but keeping track of which one I was photographing was more than I could manage!

The pelican and the black swan made me laugh, too. The pelican is so crotchety and the black swan looks all "Good day, sir!"
