New Year's Eve. The sky outside is flawless blue. There's a bit of wind blowing in from the cyclone that is menacing the west coast (and, fortunately, looks to be losing power), but nothing too dramatic.

This morning I woke up and was dismayed to discover I had come down with a cold. Not quite the end to the year I would have liked but a good excuse to spend the afternoon reading (in case I needed any extra motivation). I have been drinking lots of ginger tea and orange juice in the hopes I will feel well enough tomorrow to head out to the national park with Sahaquiel for our anniversary.

I know 2013 has been a tough year for many of you. It is my most fervent wish that 2014 treats you more kindly.

Aw, sorry to hear you're under the weather, but I'm glad you're able to rest and wish you well enough to go out for your anniversary.

Also: I keep forgetting that time-zone-wise, you're ahead of the US a goodly bit. I had a moment of "Shit, did I forget it was a major holiday again?" XD

All things considered, it's not bad weather to be under. I'm not feeling miserable, just a little slower than usual.

So long as it is an international holiday, you can probably consider me your reminder for major holidays :D

I'm doing much better today, thank you. We did get out to the park, though we didn't stay out quite as long as we would have liked. I shall have to post some photos later.

That is a very bonny landscape. It must be difficult on occasion to refrain from stealing a horse to pelt over it.

It's funny you should say that. I used to attend a horse riding school and rode some of the trails that lie to the right of shot. The photo is a little bit deceptive and the ground is rather steeper than it looks.
