Dewey's readathon: Hour 10 begins

It's not quite 7am and it's a grey and miserable day outside (so far at least--who can ever tell how these autumn days are going to end up?). I'm scarfing down my breakfast and preparing for Dewey's readathon, having slept through the first hours. Please be warned that there are likely to be a large number of posts today, so apologies ahead of time for the spam.

My pile of books to read is below.



I'm already halfway through The Celestine Prophecy; I intend to finish it off today and get started on my backlog of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine issues, the latest of which are on my Kindle. Memory and Dream has been included on the bottom, just in case I get bored with all the short stories.

All that remains is to make myself a cup of tea and get started.

What do you think of the Celestine Prophecy? I've toyed with reading it for some time.

I slept in quite late and am several hours behind but I'm still going to give it a good go.

Not my cup of tea. From a story standpoint, it's dreadful--characters are pretty much just plot functions and have no personalities of their own. From a philosophical standpoint, it's a bit too New Agey for my taste. The book is a bookcrossing copy, so I'm happy to hand it over to you if you decide you want to try it for yourself.

Sounds like you needed the sleep! I'm not too strict about the hours myself; I simply try to read as much as possible in the time that I have nothing on. You might be interested to know that the readathons are run twice a year, so there'll be another in October.
