Blessed Samhain to those that celebrate it and a blessed Beltane to those of you celebrating in the northern hemisphere.
It was an especially low-key day for me. I seem to be coming down with a cold (a bit of sinus congestion and a scratchy throat), so I skipped swimming. I wasn't able to skip walking the dogs, however, and while out came across these small pomegranates growing in a neighbour's front garden. I came back with my macro lens after dropping the dogs back home and probably freaked out the owners of the house by peering intently at their plants.

It was a gorgeously clear day, so I spent some time soaking up the sunshine with Hannah.

Chippa kept me company for the rest of the afternoon while I reread The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion. I have more of a grasp on grief now than I did when I first read the book and so I find the story a more familiar one than I did the first time around, though no less powerful.
